Supportive Guidance

An hour of undivided, unhurried attention for the load you have been carrying without naming.

A calm conversation space to make sense of pressure, decision fatigue, and the feeling that you are always one tab away from collapse.

BurnoutClarityPerspective

What this is

A conversation with someone whose only job for sixty minutes is to listen carefully and reflect back what they hear.

No agenda, no framework to complete, no homework. You talk, or you don't, and the hour is yours either way.

The hour, roughly

What the hour usually feels like.

01

First few minutes — landing.

You arrive, we sort out sound, and you get a moment to stop moving before anything is expected of you.

02

Next ten or so — what is loudest.

Whatever is at the front of your mind gets said out loud, in whatever order it comes.

03

The middle stretch — the actual work.

We slow down on the thing underneath the thing. This is usually where the hour earns its keep.

04

Toward the end — one true next step.

Not a plan. One small thing, if one presents itself. Sometimes nothing does, and that is a fine result.

05

Last few minutes — a soft close.

We stop somewhere deliberate rather than mid-sentence, so you are not walking straight back into a standup raw.

Who tends to book this

The people who usually land here.

  • People in the week after an incident, when the postmortem is done and nobody asked how they are.
  • Engineers deciding whether to move into management, or back out of it.
  • Anyone whose job has quietly become being available.
  • People carrying something from outside work that has started to bleed into it.
  • Founders with nobody at work they can say the honest version to.
  • People who are not in crisis and therefore have not felt entitled to talk to anyone.

What this is not

The boundaries stay plain.

  • Not therapy, counselling, or clinical care. No assessment, no plan, no homework.
  • Not coaching. Nobody will assign you goals or check up on your progress.
  • Not crisis support. If you are in crisis in the US, call or text 988.
  • Not career advice, technical mentorship, or interview prep.

How to prepare

Nothing is required.

If you want a starting point, bring one sentence about what has been sitting with you. If you don't have one, we'll find it in the first ten minutes.

Practical: somewhere you won't be overheard, headphones if the household is close by, and Slack closed. Camera on or off - your call, and you can change your mind mid-session.

Afterwards

Leave yourself a little room.

Most people want twenty minutes before their next thing. If you can, don't book this against a meeting. Nothing is sent to you afterward unless you ask.

FAQ

Straight answers, no filler.

Do I have to talk the whole time?

No. Quiet stretches are part of it. Some of the more useful hours have long pauses in them.

What if I don't know what's wrong?

That is a common and completely workable starting point. "Something is off and I can't name it" is enough to begin.

Is this therapy?

No. It is complementary supportive listening, not clinical care, and not a substitute for seeing a professional. If what you are dealing with needs a therapist, we will say so.

Can I keep my camera off?

Yes, always, without explanation.

Can I talk about work specifics?

Talk at whatever level of detail your obligations allow. The shape of a problem is usually enough — you rarely need to name the system or the company.

Are notes kept?

No session notes are taken or stored. Nothing you say leaves the hour.

What if I want to stop early?

Say so and we stop. There is no benefit to sitting through an hour that isn't working.
